Bathroom Counter Decor in a Lower Level Bathroom

This lower level bath, while functional, was in desperate need of an update.  For some reason, the previous homeowner had installed a vanity designed for a single bowl and modified the cabinet to fit two sinks.  What this did was eliminate most of the drawers, allowing for very little storage.

Updating the Laundry Room, A Decorative Basket of Laundry.

The appeal of a laundry room on the main floor is understandable, especially if the alternative is doing laundry in a dark, dingy, unfinished basement.  This main floor laundry is front and center in this 1973 ranch house.  Directly opposite the front door and visible from everywhere, this room had to both look presentable as well as function as more than just a space to wash clothes.

A built-in bench seat in a kitchen remodel.

I think most people can agree that efficient uses of space are a high priority in how their home is designed and how it functions.  Who wouldn’t like an extra foot or two for the traffic lane in their kitchen? Weathered Wood Makes For a Beach-Inspired Bathroom Design

Travel and destinations can be a perfect inspiration for the design of your home interior because a specific destination can conjure up specific feelings.  For my favorite beach destination, I envision serene, calm horizons, walking across untouched beaches with tumbled stones and scattered driftwood and the relaxing sounds of waves lapping against the shore.

Close up of aluminum framed door

When designing a new kitchen, bath, media or mudroom one of the first choices a homeowner makes is what species of wood, what style of cabinet and what finish.  I’d like to talk about a cabinet style that is often overlooked: cabinets with aluminum frames.  These are great accent doors to integrate into a larger design also using wood or another material.
