When it comes to designing with cabinets it’s the thoughtful details that can really make the design stand out. Adding crown molding is the obvious choice to dress up and complete cabinetry, regardless of where it is being used. While a crown can draw the eye up and gives all the attention to wall cabinets, base cabinets can often be overlooked with its basic recessed toe kick space. But wait…why do wall cabinets get all the decorative glory? What if we dressed up the toe kick space as well? In today’s blog we are going to discuss just that; how to dress up the toe kick of base cabinets with decorative enhancements to add a furniture look and complete the design.
Decorative Toe Valance
When working with Dura Supreme Cabinetry you can easily modify individual base cabinets to have a Decorative Toe Valance. This detail can be flush mounted in Crestwood framed or surface mount in Crestwood or Bria Frameless. We have several styles available depending on the look you want.

Decorative Bun Feet
Another option for creating a furniture look to base cabinets is to use decorative bun feet. Bun feet are sized perfectly to tuck into the recess of the toe space. We offer 10 different styles ranging from simple to traditional, and they can be used with any of our cabinet door styles.

Decorative Toe Loose
When you have two or more base cabinets along a run, you can give them the appearance of being one larger cabinet by using a Decorative Toe Loose. The recess toe kick and the sub-base are still present however the decorative toe is applied over the front of it to dress it up. The decorative toe can have a valance look or the look of our cove or crown base molding with a valance cut out. This is another way to add detail to several base cabinets for a beautiful look.
