Banquette Seating – An Alternative to the Kitchen Island

With the kitchen being considered the heart of the home, it's no surprise that one of the most requested items for a new kitchen is a place for family and friends to gather.  Often times designers are asked to include a seating area incorporated into the kitchen island or peninsula.  However, that is not the only option.  I am seeing more and more designers using built-in cabinetry also known as banquette seating to create a warm and inviting place for friends and family to gather in the kitchen.

An added benefit to built-in seating is the additional storage can be designed into the banquette such as drawer storage, wine storage, or even concealed storage that is accessed by a hinged top.  Below are examples of banquette seating using Dura Supreme cabinetry that have been created by our talented network of kitchen and bath designers.
