Remodel Stories: Waterfront Hideaway Gem

When designing a new space for a customer, a designer shouldn’t be merely imitating the latest trends, but instead should be creating something that perfectly fits that homeowner’s unique personality and lifestyle. This is exactly the approach Bianca Fathauer, Owner/Designer of Splendid Home Design, used when remodeling this gorgeous waterfront property in Palm City, Florida for her client.

The homeowners needed a space where they could cook while hanging out with their family. With this in mind, Bianca created a large L-shaped island making it easy to plug in laptops, do homework all while dinner is being prepared. The homeowner wanted three things with this remodel- Functionality, Comfort and Luxury.

Let’s take a closer look and see how Bianca checked all of these boxes for her client!

Functionality

The large professional grade range and ample prep space, combined with hard working Dura Supreme storage solutions peppered within the cabinetry all contribute to a kitchen design that makes preparing meals a dream. Storage is also maximized here through the dream walk-through pantry and loads of space inside the bench seating.

Comfort

The walnut butcher block end grain countertops (on the island and in the pantry) made by Grothouse, the nearby book collection, along with the cozy cushioned bench seating all looking out over a beautiful backyard waterfront give the space a familiar, relaxed vibe. This fits with the homeowner's personality as she loves all things organic and has a farm she is able to draw from to cook and sustain her family.

Luxury

A beautiful heirloom chandelier that once belonged to the homeowner’s late mother makes a gorgeous statement above the kitchen table. Having this piece from her mother hanging right in the middle of the action where food and love collide could not be any more perfect and meaningful to this family. Quartz countertops, all appliances wrapped in matching door panels and stunning hand-painted, hand-made backsplash tiles by Julep Tile up the luxe factor!

The entire kitchen uses Dura Supreme cabinetry. On the perimeter, bookcase, pantry and entertainment center, Bianca chose our Marley door style with a White finish. On the island, she installed our Montego door style in Knotty Alder with an Heirloom "O" finish, making the space look like it's been there for generations.

Designer Bianca really hit it out of the park with this project. To see more of her designs or to get in contact with her, she can be found at https://splendidhomedesign.com , or on Instagram @splendidhomedesign. The photography on this project was by Kaunishetki.
